More than a month after the shooting, police arrested 17-year-old Shayla Johnson on robbery and conspiracy charges. Her lawyers are attempting to have her case moved to juvenile court.

The Associated Press said that investigators allege 20-year-old Onaje Dickinson was also involved with Johnson in a plot to lure Carpenter to a home and rob him.

A Penn Hills Police officer fatally shot Dickinson two weeks later after he was involved in another fatal robbery. Authorities say that the gun found at that scene matched the one used to shoot Carpenter.
