UMPC Gets Green Light for Face Transplants
We may soon see human face transplants in Pittsburgh now that The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has gotten the green light from its Institutional Review Board.
UPMC will now begin to evaluate candidates for the surgery, but the hospital is not making any guesses as to when the first operation will be performed. Only two other health systems in the country are approved for the procedure.
