Turnpike Accident Closes 86-Mile Section Of Roadway
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike closed a significant portion of the road Wednesday.
According to Turnpike officials, an 86-mile section between the New Stanton Interchange and the Breezewood Interchange was closed in both directions.
A truck overturned on the eastbound side of the road near mile marker 138. As a result, the truck blocked both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane.
HAZMAT crews were called to the scene to clean up oil, fuel and other fluids.
Both sides of the road have since reopened, but traffic was reduced to one lane in the area of the crash.
