Trash pile in Pittsburgh becomes an irritant for the community: "It just makes you feel dirty."

A neighborhood in Pittsburgh is dealing with a messy problem that has been frustrating residents for weeks. A heaping pile of trash in Uptown is sitting at Fifth Avenue near Seneca Street, creating an eyesore and a smelly situation.

"It's just horrible, like really horrible," Rayla Davis of the Hill District said. "I have my windows rolled up."

KDKA-TV found out about the issue when a resident sent an email. We found an old television, an empty pack of chicken, and other articles of trash among the many bags gathered in the pile.

Residents turned to KDKA looking for answers. We turned to the apartment complex's owner, Hill Com II.

The office said it called Big's Sanitation on Tuesday and the company was supposed to clean it up on Wednesday.

However, Big's told KDKA-TV that Hill Com II has not been paying their bills. When we called Hill Com II back to ask if they were delinquent in their payments, the phone hung up.

In the meantime, all that's left in the neighborhood is frustration; there is a bus stop just steps away.

"They get off the busses and they've got to walk past a million bags of trash," Davis said. "It just makes you feel dirty."

KDKA-TV reached out to the Department of Public Works to see if there is any additional information they can share about this issue, and any past problems with the building itself.

At the time of this report, we had not yet heard back.
