McKEES ROCKS, Pa. (KDKA) - Allegheny County Police are investigating a shooting in the area of a playground in McKees Rocks.

A teenager was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

The teenager has been identified as 15-year-old Ashan Edwards and investigators said the teenagers were hanging out at the park when someone shot at them. The 15-year-old was hit by the gunfire and died as a result.

Caution tape and flashing blue lights blanketed the area of Third Street Park as emergency personnel arrived in the area on Saturday afternoon.

Edwards was shot several times and then rushed to the hospital where he ultimately died.

"Teenagers were hanging out at the park, and somebody from outside the park shot at them, we do not know if they were in a vehicle or not," said Lt. Nando Costa of the Allegheny County Police.

This comes just five days after a shooting less than half a mile away on Woodward Avenue.
