Steelers LB Larry Foote 'I Like Our Chances'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)-Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote was back in the studio with The Fan Morning Show on Tuesday following the Steelers' impressive 37-27 win over the Detroit Lions.
The win has the Steelers at 4-6 and still very much in the playoff discussion in the AFC.
"It's hard to look back and think if we just would have won one or two of those games," Foote said. "We sill control our own destiny. I like our chances."
Foote said that despite having a bad second quarter Ike Taylor played well and shut down Megatron in the second half. It could have even been better for Ike.
"Ike doesn't have the best hands," Foote said about Ike failing to catch two possible interceptions. "If he caught half of the balls he could, he would be Hall of Fame material."
Larry admits the decision to run the fake field goal was one that he didn't understand. He said the Lions' punter gave it away. He didn't sell the fake and the defense knew it was coming.
Larry was proud of the effort by David DeCastro who didn't allow Ndamukong Suh to do much of anything.
"He did a great job. he kept Ben clean," Foote said.
By keeping quarterback Ben Roethlisberger upright, it allowed him to run the no-huddle offense to perfection. It also allowed the Steelers to get a come-from-behind win.
Larry said the no-huddle has always been a part of their package and since they knew it was going to be a struggle running the ball, they were going to have to put it up more. He thinks it works and we could see more of it.
Larry also has some thoughts on the call that ended last night's Patriots/Panthers game. He joked saying he still managed to sleep like a baby last night knowing the Pats lost, but it admits it was a bad call.
Larry says the refs have always had something against the Steelers.
