This comes in addition to a shelter that was opened earlier on Saturday at the Bedford County Emergency Management Authority.

The total capacity of all three shelters is estimated at 750 people.

The Salvation Army was sending meals and snacks to the shelters, in addition to the supplies they were sending to those stranded on the turnpike.
