Large amount of marijuana seized in Rankin drug bust, police say

A large amount of marijuana was seized from a home in Rankin Borough during a drug bust on Thursday, police said. 

The Eastern Regional Mon Valley Police Department said that officers executed a search warrant Thursday at a home along Rankin Boulevard with the assistance of the Pitcairn Police Department and the Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department. 

The warrant was issued as part of an investigation into narcotics violations, police said.

Police said that officers seized a quantity of marijuana and a gun that was later found to have been stolen.

A photo from the department shows what appears to be a large amount of marijuana packed into multiple plastic bags and two large containers. A specific amount of marijuana that was seized was not given by police.

Police said that a 28-year-old man from Rankin will be facing multiple charges in connection with the drug bust. The man's identity was not revealed. 

It's unclear at this time what specific charges the man will face.
