Pregnant Woman Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A pregnant woman is spending the night behind bars, charged with assaulting a police officer.

However, she says she's the one who was assaulted.

Police say this is the result of a long-standing custody dispute.

The woman allegedly refused to hand over her child last night when she found herself in a physical altercation with police.

"She was out of control," said Dwayne Thomas who is the father of the woman's child.

Krista Abram, who is 8 months pregnant, was arrested on charges that she assaulted a Versailles Police officer during a custody exchange Sunday night.

"I saw her pushing the police officer, she wrapped her legs around my daughter," Thompson said.
The 5-year-old girl is spending the night with her father.

Abram is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
