2 People Flown To Hospital Following Crash Involving Police Vehicle

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) - Drivers were detoured after a bad rollover crash which involved a Jefferson Hills Police Officer.

It happened around 8:15 Wednesday morning. Jefferson Hills Police Chief Gene Roach says the officer was traveling Northbound and the other driver was driving Southbound. The two hit head on.

He says both drivers were initially entrapped in their vehicles and once they were free — both were flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The chief says they've requested a reconstruction team to come in and review the details of the crash itself.

He says this one is especially tough because it involves one of their own.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with both," said Jefferson Hills Police Chief Gene Roach. "As you can imagine because it involves a Jefferson Hills Officer, our officers are shook over this and they're rallying behind him and hope he can have a full recovery."

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
