Police Searching For Stolen Munhall Softball Money Suspects

MUNHALL (KDKA) - Munhall Police are investigating a theft at a concession stand at Woodhill Park. The money, which belongs to the Munhall Girls Softball Association, was stolen last week.

KDKA spoke with Phil Thomas, President of the Softball Association. He said whoever was behind the theft, broke several locks, kicked down a door and stole a safe containing $700 to $800.

"And that quick, someone takes that much money from you," Thomas said. "It's just depressing."

Police believe the theft happened sometime last Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Police also said a storage shed was broken into.

"Someone definitely knew what they were looking for. Nothing was taken, outside of the money," Munhall Police Sgt. Joe Cibula said.

Thomas said every cent earned goes towards the girls involved in the softball leagues, from trophies to tournaments.

"I hope they catch the guy," Thomas said. "'[Because] I think people want to know who did and who would steal money from girls."

The players have remained optimistic and are working together to earn back what was stolen.

The Association is holding several car washes this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One will be at Woodhill Field, another at Pearl's Café II/HobNob in West Mifflin, and there will also be a car wash at Fitness 24-7 in West Mifflin.

All proceeds go to the Munhall Girls Softball Association and the rain date is Saturday, May 18.
