KENNEDY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police say a 53-year-old man has died after a fight at a motel in Kennedy Township.

The Allegheny County Police Department says officers responded to a report of an assault at the Hilltop Inn motel in the 100 block of Kisow Drive on Wednesday evening. Officials found 53-year-old Michael Tomson unresponsive with a head injury.

A suspect, identified as 29-year-old Cecil Guy was detained, law enforcement says.

A witness tells police the whole incident lasted maybe about five minutes

According to police paperwork, it was around 6:30 p.m. when Guy's girlfriend went for a walk near the motel and allegedly heard Tomson say an inappropriate comment to her.

She walked away and told police she was scared, so she called her boyfriend.

Investigators say Guy eventually picked her up and drove them both to the motel where Tomson was staying.

When they encountered each other, police say the two argued near the lobby before Guy pinned Tomson against a wall and punched him in the back of the head.

Officers say after getting hit once, Tomson slid to the ground and hit his head on the cement walkway.

Police say while he was motionless, Guy and his girlfriend got in their car and drove off.

Investigators say all of this was captured on cameras at the hotel.

Tomson was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Allegheny County Police are charging Guy with involuntary manslaughter. He is being held in Allegheny County Jail.

Management at the motel did not want to comment about the investigation.
