A man from Monroeville is facing charges after police say he was taking explicit photos of a woman while inside the Giant Eagle store located along Monroeville Boulevard.

Brandon Bass, 29, is accused of trying to take upskirt photos of a woman while at the meat counter inside the store.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Monroeville police, officers were called after someone caught a man, later identified as Bass, trying to take photos of the woman without her permission.

Police say surveillance video from inside the Giant Eagle store showed Bass using his cell phone secured to his shoe to try and take the photos.

Police said the victim's friend chased after Bass through the supermarket and outside, all the way to the Target parking lot, where he was banned in 2022 after another similar incident. Bass then got away in his car.

Officers eventually caught Bass driving recklessly across all four lanes of traffic, nearly causing a crash on Monroeville Boulevard, before conducting a traffic stop on Caruso Drive and taking him into custody.

In September 2021, a woman who spoke with KDKA-TV said she went through an experience at the Sheetz in Murrysville that still haunts her today.

"A guy comes up behind me and, you know, basically just puts his leg right between my right between," the woman said.

Her voice shook as she tried to finish her sentence.

"It was very traumatic. It was awful, and I still don't really stop at gas stations anymore for lunch now," the woman said.

Bass was prosecuted, convicted, and still on probation for charges from that incident and one a few weeks earlier at the same gas station.

"I cannot believe he's still out there doing this. That was, you know, three years ago, and he's still out there," the woman said.

Audrey White of Monroeville frequently shops at the grocery store.

"A lot of times, I send my grandkids in the store. I sit in the car, go ahead, I give you a list, and let them run around the stores. Now, I can't do that," White said.

"I feel for the women, the other women that have gotten, you know, harassed by him, too," the unidentified woman said.

As for the woman who encountered Bass three years ago, she said this time he needs to get more than a slap on the wrist.

"I'm hoping he gets behind bars of some sort because we need some justification for this," the woman said. "It's wrong."

Bass is facing numerous charges in connection with the incident, including attempted invasion of privacy and harassment, among other offenses.

Bass remains in Allegheny County Jail without bail, awaiting his preliminary hearing on March 31. The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office told KDKA-TV that Bass will have a hearing in about a month in their county to determine whether he violated his probation.
