Mother's Boyfriend Charged, Accused Of Fatally Beating Toddler

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 3-year-old boy has died after police say his mother's boyfriend beat him while he was supposed to be babysitting.

Tyler Mason, of Burgettstown, is facing charges of aggravated assault after allegedly beating 3-year-old Aiden Lombardi.

Police say Mason beat the boy, causing bruises to the child's face and head.

Lombardi was taken to UPMC Children's Hospital with a skull fracture and died from his injuries late on Wednesday night.

Police say Mason told them the boy went unconscious and stopped breathing while he was watching the toddler.

Mason is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
