Man Accused Of Beating, Robbing Girlfirend In Uniontown

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- It's not clear what started the argument between a man and his girlfriend but it sent him to jail and her to the hospital.

The couple was driving near the victim's home on Varndell Street when the argument began and the woman got out of the car.

But that didn't deter 24-year-old Macvellan Hinton who followed her.

The initial assault happened on Liberty Street. Hinton pushed the woman into a fence and then to the ground. He then got on top of her and punched and kicked her repeatedly.

The woman was able to briefly get away and make her way to a porch, but Hinton caught up and continued to beat her before taking $300 from her pocket and fleeing in her car.

Uniontown police were quick to spot the victim's gold Chevy Impala. They pulled over the suspect in a parking lot on Dunlap Street where he was taken into custody before he could make his way back home to Pittsburgh.

Hinton is in jail unable to post bond.
