Police: 2 Men Likely Shot During Parking Dispute, Arrest Made
HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- Police say it was likely a dispute over parking spaces that led to a deadly shooting in Homestead.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 39-year-old Calvin Walker of West Mifflin. He was pronounced dead at UPMC Mercy Hospital.
A 40-year-old man, identifed as Qualaun Burns, was also wounded in the shooting, which happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday along West Oak Way.
He was also taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Allegheny County Police, the two men were together when they were shot.
Police say they have arrested 42-year-old Neil Chandler in connection with the shooting. He was taken into custody following a standoff.
According to the criminal complaint, Chandler became upset when he found cars gathered from a funeral service blocking the alley on West Oak Way. Police say he drove away and soon after came back on foot and began firing.
Chandler was later taken into custody after a standoff with police at a home on W. 13th Avenue. He eventually surrendered after officers with multiple departments surrounded the home.
Chandler is now facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and other firearms violations. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
