Group Hopes to Save Historic Wooden Coaster

A Pennsylvania group wants to get one of the country's most historic wooden roller coasters back on track.

The Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park say they can get a $50,000 grant to help refurbish the Blue Streak, which is the sixth oldest wooden roller coaster in the country. All they need is people to go online and vote in a grant project sponsored by Pepsi at www.refresheverything.com

In all the trustees hope to raise $125,000 to complete the restoration of the Blue Streak and provide off-season maintenance for the coaster. The Blue Streak has been idle since 2006, although the park is open.

Conneaut Lake Park is the 12th oldest amusement park in the U.S. It has been plagued by financial problems in recent years.
