Teen girl in critical condition after shooting in Homewood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A teenage girl is in critical condition after a shooting in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood.
Officers and medics were called to a shooting on Frankstown Avenue around 3 p.m. on Monday. The girl was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her stomach.
Police said a person of interest was detained for questioning.
SWAT also responded to a nearby house for what police called a "protective sweep." No one was found inside.
Investigators are asking people to come forward with information.
"I know there were a lot of people in the area, so if somebody probably saw or heard something, we're just asking for any information, anybody that might have something that can help us," Pittsburgh Police Commander Stephen Vinansky said.
