"Home Game 3" Tickets Leave Some Pirates Fans Disappointed

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A ticket for the Sunday game between St. Louis and Pittsburgh was about the hottest ticket in town.

It was so much so that when hundreds of people saw a chance to buy a ticket to home game three online, they jumped on it.

The problem is: home game three will never happen. Sunday is game three, but it's home game one.

So everyone who showed up with the online ticket was turned away, because the game they bought tickets to weeks ago was well before the schedule was finalized and that game will never happen.

"We bought the tickets from MLB through my son's work, for like, $1,000," said Lou Vigliotti of Burgettstown.

VIgliotti wasn't the only one who had trouble.

"We tried to walk into the gate, and they were like, 'these tickets are for home game three,' but why would they send us an email and say print out your tickets for home game three?" said Joey Sunseri of Allison Park.

It dampened the afternoon for a couple hundred fans who thought they were going inside PNC Park, but it seemed nothing could stop the excitement for the fans in and around the ball park.

However, there is some good news for the fans who didn't get to see the game – they will be getting a refund for their tickets.
