Cotsonika Analyzes Penguins' Trades

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)--Over the last two days, the Penguins have been very active in making additions to their lineup. They brought in a lot of grit and sandpaper with Brenden Morrow and Douglas Murray. To break down the deals, the Fan Morning Show talked to Yahoo! Sports NHL Writer, Nick Cotsonika.

Cotsonika is a fan of the moves because of how proactive Ray Shero was in pulling the trigger to add to the lineup. Shero didn't wait to see what the market was willing to dictate. He, essentially, set the market for the other teams in the league.

Murray is a stay-at-home, hard-hitting defenseman that will help the Penguins in their own end. There are a few drawbacks to Murray's game, though.

"He is not fast," Cotsonika said of Murray, "but he brings other things to the table."

The addition of Morrow is an obvious move to find a solidified winger to the second line. Cotsonika tells us that the Penguins are one of the best teams in the league, and they have not had the services of Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang for much of their 12-game winning streak.

When Malkin returns to have Morrow, and James Neal on his line, the highest scoring team in the league can only get better.
