Analyst: No Way Steelers Can Lose To Panthers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Scouts Inc. and ESPN NFL Writer Matt Williamson joined the Fan Morning Show to preview tonight's Steelers-Panthers game.
He thinks the Panthers should be in the conversation for one of the worst teams in the NFL; however, they have been playing better as of late.
Williamson said and the only way the Panthers can win is by running the ball because quarterback Jimmy Clausen is pretty much incapable of moving the ball.
He says "there is no way I can see the Steelers losing this game unless something crazy happens on special teams."
He also sees a positive with the game on Thursday. Afterward, the Steelers will have 10 days off to prepare for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns game should be another easy game to rest starters as they head into a bye week in the first-round of the playoffs.
Williamson does see an opportunity in this game to get a few starters some rest. If the Steelers are up by 14 or 21 in the third quarter, then you might see Byron Leftwich in at quarterback and a rotation of backup players on the defense.
Williamson does think that there is a problem with offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' play calling.
Arians continues to put the ball in Ben Roethlisberger's hands, but the only thing this team can rely on is the running game and he continues to move away from it, Williamson said.
