Murder suspect killed in attack at Allegheny County Jail

A man incarcerated in the Allegheny County Jail on a homicide charge died after he was allegedly assaulted by multiple inmates on Wednesday afternoon.

The Allegheny County Police Department said in a news release that preliminary information shows that shortly before 1 p.m., "multiple incarcerated individuals" entered the 44-year-old victim's jail cell and assaulted him. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, county police said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Tyrone Good. Investigators didn't provide any other details about the attack, but said everyone involved is accounted for. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Good was stabbed to death.

Good was charged with criminal homicide in the death of 44-year-old Michelle Sturdivant, who was found dead in the city's Perry North neighborhood in December 2025. He was arrested in April in Georgia and extradited to Pittsburgh, officials said. He was being held without bail.

"As is practice, an internal review by Allegheny County Jail officials will also be conducted," county police said in the news release.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office did not release a cause and manner of death on Wednesday. County police said they're continuing to investigate the man's death.
