4-Goal Third Period Lifts Rangers Over Pens

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Penguins were roughly 10 minutes away from getting back on track, but four goals by the New York Rangers propelled them to a 4-1 win.

Erik Christensen and Alex Frolov found the back of the net just 15 seconds apart to help hand the Penguins their second straight loss.

Philadelphia snapped the Pens' 12-game winning streak Tuesday night.

The four goals in the third period came in a span of just 6:19.

Evgeni Malkin gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead with time winding down in the first period off a great feed from Sidney Crosby.

Crosby's assist extended his point streak to a career-best 20 games.

Christensen's goal came on the power play with Matt Cooke in the penalty box.

Frolov buried his own rebound off a deflection for the eventual game-winning goal.

Artem Anisimov skated untouched through the neutral zone before rifling a wrist shot by Brent Johnson at 14:55 of the third period.

Brian Boyle capped the scoring by beating Johnson with a wrist shot to the short side on a 2-on-1 at 16:29.

The Penguins are off until Monday when they will host the Phoeniz Coyotes. Pittsburgh won the previous meeting 4-3 in a shootout on Nov. 6.
