HENRY CLAY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Three teens were seriously injured after a violent crash in Fayette County.
It happened shortly after 6:30pm Sunday on Mae West Road in Henry Clay Township.
16-year old Richard Metheny was driving two 17-year old friends from his home in Confluence back to Uniontown at the time of the crash.
PSP Uniontown wouldn't release details of the crash to KDKA, but told the victim's family that the boys 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier came upon another car that it swerved to miss.
Metheny lost control of his car, hit a tree and rolled twice. The two passengers were ejected. Matheny had to be cut out of the car by emergency responders.
Metheny underwent surgery this morning and is in stable condition with face and shoulder injuries.
One passenger is also in stable condition. The other is in the ICU with a head injury. All are at Ruby Memorial in Morgantown.
The boys are all students at Uniontown High School.
Speed is believed to be the reason for the crash, but the investigation continues.
No charges are expected.
The road where the crash happened winds through the mountains of Fayette County. It was tarred and chipped just two weeks ago.
