3 Men Arrested In Nickel Theft At Local Steel Plant
BRACKENRIDGE (KDKA) -- State police have arrested three men in connection with the theft of more than 17,000 pounds of nickel from the ATI/Allegheny Ludlum Steel Plant in Harrison Township.
According to investigators, 52-year-old Paul Eberhardt, 44-year-old Timothy Angely and 46-year-old Kenneth Hill were taken into custody and arraigned at Allegheny County night court.
Authorities say Eberhardt, of Worthington, Pa., is a retired employee of the plant, and Hill, of Apollo, is a current employee there. Angely, of Tarentum, works for a trucking company.
State police say they believe the three "conspired to remove the nickel and sell it for scrap."
Investigators say the theft happened on Oct. 14. The nickel was worth about $150,000.
The nickel ended up being sold to a plant located in Terrell, Texas, state police said.
Their bail has been set at $25,000. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
