2 Crash Into Icy Pond Following Drug-Related Police Chase

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - Two people escaped from a sinking car after crashing into an icy pond during a police chase in Pennsylvania, and they're now facing drug charges.

State police based in Indiana said they began chasing the car about 5:45 p.m. Saturday after an undercover trooper spotted a drug transaction in the parking lot of a strip mall in White Township.

Online court records show 24-year-old Jasmine Parker, of Verona, has been charged with felony drug possession charges. The 17-year-old boy driving the car is being charged as a juvenile and not being identified.

Police say Parker and the boy both suffered minor injuries, but escaped from the sinking car. It was towed after a fire department water rescue crew chopped through the ice and connected a cable to the car.

Court records don't list an attorney for Parker.
