The investigators even looked in a sewage-filled septic tank, but couldn't find Christie Wilson's remains..
In 2019, the investigators asked Mario Garcia's sons for any details about their father's actions in the days after Christie Wilson disappeared.
Based on those conversations, in August 2020, Nuno Tavares and Don Murchison went back and searched the property around the home where Mario Garcia and his family lived at the time of Christie's disappearance.
With experts using ground-penetrating radar equipment, they carefully scanned 5 acres and found several possible places to dig.
At the third location, just 100 yards from Mario Garcia's former home, investigators recovered nearly a full skeleton. Tests would later confirm it was Christie Wilson's.
Cause of death
An autopsy later revealed Christie Wilson had a broken nose and hand, but the exact cause of her death could not be determined.
