The Eagles had Pro Bowl weapons at quarterback, running back and wide receiver in 2013. Nick Foles set records behind center, LeSean McCoy had one of the organization's best seasons out of the backfield, and DeSean Jackson had his best NFL season.
In the days following DeSean Jackson's release by the Eagles, speculation ran rampant as to the reasons why. Everything was to blame from Jackson's petulant, rambunctious sideline behavior, to his alleged gang ties, to Jackson's character, to this being Chip Kelly's fault.
Word spread last month that Eagles guard Evan Mathis isn't particularly happy with his contract. Mathis will be paid $5 million for the 2014 season, and was reportedly told by the Eagles he could seek a trade.
