Wildfire burning at Peaslee Wildlife Management Area in Vineland, New Jersey 75% contained
Firefighters are still working on Monday to extinguish a wildfire that's been burning for three days in Vineland, New Jersey.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said the fire in the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area in Cumberland County, also known as Danny's Wildfire, was first spotted by the Belleplain Fire Tower just before 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
On Sunday, the NJFFS said the fire had grown to 1,300 acres and remains 75% contained. In an update on Monday evening, NJFFS officials said the fire hadn't grown any larger and crews were still working to contain it.
Union Road and Bennett's Mill Road reopened Saturday after initially closing as crews battled the blaze, however in Sunday's update the agency said Cow Turd Road is now closed between Cedar Branch and Hesstown roads.
No buildings were evacuated or are currently threatened by the fire, according to the NJFFS.
Chopper 3 was over the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area Friday afternoon, where thick clouds of smoke billowed and flames continued to build.
NJFFS officials said fire engines, bulldozers and ground crews were all working on the firefight.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
