Why Doctors Say The Mediterranean Diet Could Help Save Your Life

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- I am a big fan of the Mediterranean Diet and my faith in the diet has been confirmed again and again by evidence based studies. The latest appears in the Journal of The American Medical association Family Medicine addition. The study found that women who ate a Mediterranean Diet had a slower risk for hip fracture, compared with women who ate other healthy diets. Many long-term, controlled-feeding studies have supported the role of Mediterranean-type diets for prevention of multiple other health conditions and there are already well-established reasons to recommend the Mediterranean diet for other conditions. This diet is an effective in reducing cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer.
