Where To Watch The Royal Wedding In Philadelphia

It should have been me.

But since it's not, I'll be joining the ranks of the defeated by tossing back a Pimm's, donning a plastic tiara and relishing every minute of the event of the decade at one of these area Royal Wedding viewing parties.

Not up for early rising to watch The Royal Wedding? Head to Bucks County for the Black Bass Hotel's Royal Wedding Tea, to be held at a more reasonable hour. The tea features historical info on the Royal Family and English teas, tea cakes, finger sandwiches, scones with preserves and clotted cream, and chocolate dipped fruit. Oh, and wear your best or most outrageous hat—an award will be given to the person with the best one!

Haddonfield's British Chip Shop will offer live coverage of the wedding, plus a special a la carte menu. The offerings are beef wellington, crab and watercress salad, and strawberry and cream sponge (aka cake) for dessert. You can also gorge on all three for a very reasonable $30.

Rittenhouse Square is as close to royalty as you can get in Philadelphia, so it makes perfects sense that Lacroix, one of the square's most hoity-toity restaurants, is offering a special breakfast and screening of The Royal Wedding. Enjoy a complete English breakfast—with scones, crumpets, grilled tomatoes, sausages and HP sauce galore—at 5:30 a.m., accompanied by a live screening of the event.

The British Officer's Club is celebrating the marriage of one of their own (William is a British Officer) at the tony Merion Cricket Club. An extensive breakfast buffet will feature all the UK staples: scones, oatcakes, crumpets, soda bread, pain au chocolat, English preserves, apple bircher muesli, scrambled eggs with house smoked Scottish salmon and chives, streaky bacon, Cumberland sausage, black pudding and more.

Bonus: the Four Seasons will host a Prince and Princess Tea for the youngins, also in the Swann Lounge. From 4 – 5:30 p.m., the kids can come dressed in crowns, gowns and faux jewels and feast on hot chocolate, cookies, cakes, and special finger sandwiches while a taped broadcast of the wedding is shown. $65 per little prince or princess.

Wayne's A Taste of Britain is known for its large selection of imported British goodies and English teas and breakfasts, but they also cater parties and serve a mean lunch. According to their website, they are now accepting reservations for The Royal Wedding, so call and reserve your spot before they're full.
