What's Cooking on 1060: Nine Ting, Joe's, and an Eagles Food Event

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new Korean BBQ restaurant is about to open in the heart of Philadelphia's Chinatown neighborhood.

It's called Nine Ting, and owner Allen Cheng plans to have it open for business sometime next week, at 926 Race Street.

Cheng (in top photo) explains the name:

"Nine is just a number.  Ting, that means an ancient cooking pot.  'Nine Ting' means you keep your promise.  You're an honest guy."

Also next week, a second Joe's Steaks + Soda Shop opens, April 1st, at the corner of Girard and Frankford Avenues, in Fishtown.

Owner Joe Groh says his new location will have an expanded menu -- noting that up until a few years ago, his Torresdale restaurant only offered one type of cheesesteak.

"But the times change.  I had to change.   We now offer provolone cheese, cheese wiz, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato.  We make everything to order."

And discounted tickets are on sale now through next Wednesday for "Flight Market," which takes place at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, April 19th.

Meg Walsh of the Food Trust, who is also project coordinator of Night Market Philadelphia, says this new event is especially designed for Eagles fans.

"It is going to be a daytime food truck festival and flea market that features kids' activities, free (Lincoln Financial) field tours, cheerleaders, the (Eagles') mascot, bands."
