Wharton School Teaches High School Business Teachers About Business

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Wharton School and a major financial services firm are putting on a three-day seminar, beginning tomorrow, to teach high school business teachers more about their subject.

The event, with the imposing title of PwC and Knowledge@Wharton Seminar for High School Educators on Business and Financial Responsibility, aims to correct a high level of ignorance about money among high schoolers.

Teachers are the conduit to them, says Mukul Pandya, executive director of Knowledge@Wharton, and the seminar aims to up their game.

"Although there are 13 states now in the U.S. that require financial literacy to be taught as a part of graduation requirements, there is no formal program that I'm aware of that teaches high school teachers how to deepen their own business knowledge."

Areas include leadership, marketing, management and a stock market simulation. Activities will be streamed online.
