By Al Novack and Jericka Duncan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Two teenage siblings were killed and their mother was critically injured in a fire in the Tacony section of Philadelphia early Tuesday morning.

The fire started at about 4:45 a.m. inside an apartment that is located above a beauty salon in the 6800 block of Torresdale Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they were reportedly told that no one was inside the second floor apartment building. However, minutes later, a neighbor alerted them that several residents were indeed inside the apartment.

Firefighters immediately entered the building and found the family inside the apartment.

Family members say 13-year-old Anthony Ramos, a student at Hamilton Disston Elementary, was pronounced dead at the scene. 19-year-old Crystal Boretto also died, according to her half brother Phillip Searle. A third woman, Gloria Searle, is in the hospital in critical condition, according to her son.

The fire was placed under control in about an hour.

Fire officials said no smoke alarms were found inside the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
