Top Restaurants In Philadelphia Open For Thanksgiving

Not everyone's vision of a perfect Thanksgiving is Norman Rockwell-esque; some people prefer to have others do the cooking and cleaning up for them so they can relax and enjoy their family (or their solitude). These are the top restaurants in Philly serving up delicious dishes for Thanksgiving this year.
City Tavern
138 S. 2nd St.
Philadelphia, PA 19106
(215) 413-1443

Price: $82.95 for adults/$32.95 for kids

Let Chef Walter Staib feed your family, Colonial-style, at City Tavern. This four-course meal begins with a champagne shrub, a tangy aperitif enjoyed by the early settlers. The customary Thanksgiving items follow: roasted free-range turkey, sweet potatoes with granny smith apples, sage and marjoram stuffing, all served family style. Don't miss Martha Washington's chocolate mousse cake! Seatings are from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

926 South St.
Philadelphia, PA 19147
(215) 592-8180

Price: $59 per person/$30 for children 12 and younger

Supper is a popular brunch spot in the Washington Square West part of town; there's usually a good crowd for dinner and drinks, too. Supper will be open this Thanksgiving, and Chef Mitch Prensky is creating a delectable family-style meal. At all three seatings, the meals include all-natural turkey; sautéed Brussels sprouts with smoked baco;, potato puree with cheddar and horseradish; sweet potato soup with marshmallow, cinnamon and sage; and home-made pumpkin pie. The seatings are available at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Twisted Tail

Philadelphia, PA 19147
(215) 558-2471

Price: $22 per person

Headhouse Square's Twisted Tail calls itself a "Southern-inspired bourbon house and juke joint." While that wouldn't normally scream "Thanksgiving" to most folks, the friendly people at Twisted Tail are preparing a Turkey Day feast as well. For something a little different, the restaurant will be offering the choice of traditional or Cajun-style fried turkey with cornbread stuffing and sides, along with a pumpkin or pecan pie. Dinner is served from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Mike Dugan will be there to help celebrate by playing the blues from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
