Today Is World Asthma Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Today is World Asthma Day. It's part of an initiative to inform people of the triggers, treatments and consequences of the disease.
More people are being diagnosed with Asthma and proper treatment is the key to managing symptoms, according to Linda Ehrhardt with the PA Asthma Partnership.
"Even when people are diagnosed, sometimes they're not aware of all the triggers that can cause an asthma attack or an asthma episode."
Many of those triggers are found in the home including pets, rodents, stuffed animals, carpeting, cockroaches, bedding, candles and air fresheners.
"It is a chronic disease. It can't be cured, but it can be easier to live with if it's dealt with in the correct way."
