Thieves Take Hundreds of Tokens From South Philly Subway Turnstile

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating an overnight robbery of a SEPTA subway turnstile machine in South Philadelphia.

Police responded to the Ellsworth-Federal subway stop around 5 a.m. Investigators say they saw a side panel of one of the turnstile machines lying on the side. They estimate $300 worth of tokens were taken from the machine.

There was no immediate description of any suspects, and police said they were trying to look at any surveillance video that may have been taken.
