The Annual Haddonfield Fine Arts and Crafts Festival
by KYW'S Rasa Kaye
There are 267 artists and artisans displaying their work along Kings Highway this weekend, with fresh takes on glass, pottery, wearable art, and jewelry, among so many beautifully designed and executed pieces.Marcy Boroff's Renaissance Craftables company produces this festival with the town of Haddonfield, and she notes a new trend emerging among the artists she works with:
"With the economy in shaky mode a lot of people have lost their jobs so there are new artists, people who were just doing this on the side and now are doing this as a business. Spouses are working together, because one lost their job or they just want to find a way to really make this a business as opposed to just a hobby."
Another trend Boroff notes is art that was made from recycled materials, not just for convenience or cost, but to intentionally make an item of beauty and utility without tapping natural resources.
