Temple Looks For 4-0 Tonight In Charlotte

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It has been a fun first month of the season for the Temple Owls.

Matt Rhule's squad is off to a 3-0 start, which has included a statement win over Penn State, a critical conference victory over Cincinnati and a wild "W" on the road at UMass. Thanks to this success, the Owls currently find themselves on the outskirts of the Top 25 in both major polls.

Tonight, Temple will look for 4-0 as they visit the Charlotte 49ers. Charlotte is 2-2 this season, coming off a 17-7 loss to Florida Atlantic. The 49ers call Conference USA home.

Temple is coming off a bye week. Their last game was back on September 19th, the win over UMass up in Foxborough. In that game the Owls had to rally late, utilizing a blocked extra point they returned for two points and a last second field goal to pull out a 25-23 victory.

Quarterback P.J. Walker is completing 64% of his passes for Temple. He has thrown for 615 yards and three touchdowns this season while being intercepted twice. Jahad Thomas paces the ground game for the Owls with 394 yards and four scores.

This will be the first ever meeting between these two programs.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Marc Narducci of the Philadelphia Inquirer about what to expect in this one.
