CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - Police in Camden are investigating the stabbing death of a 22-year-old woman Friday night.
Police say Sophia Ortiz died while in surgery at Cooper University Hospital after she was stabbed in her apartment on the 400 block of Boyd Street a little after 11 p.m.
Authorities took into custody Saturday 24-year-old Julio Martinez, of the 200 block of Baldwin's Run in Camden, and charged him with murder. Police say Martinez, who is the father of Ortiz's children, allegedly broke into the apartment through a second story window, kicked open the door to a bedroom where Ortiz and others in the apartment were hiding and stabbed her with a knife.
He is being held in the Camden County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
