South Jersey Police Officer Injured In Early Morning Crash
ELK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A police officer headed to an emergency call was injured when his cruiser and a pickup truck collided on a southern New Jersey roadway.
Gloucester County prosecutors say the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Buck Road in Elk Township. The say special township officer Jacob Custis was making a U-turn when his cruiser was struck broadside by a pickup truck.
Custis suffered undisclosed injuries and was hospitalized in stable condition. The pickup truck driver was not injured. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.
Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Details about the emergency call Custis was responding to were not disclosed.
