Some Bucks County Students Getting Tablets To Enhance Their Learning Experience

By Brad Segall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Middle school students returning to class next month in the Bristol Township School District in Bucks County will be using tablets to help enhance their learning experience.

Franklin D. Roosevelt and Neil Armstrong are the only middle schools in Pennsylvania and just two of eight nationwide selected for a program supported Digital Promise and the Verizon Foundation.

The schools will receive more than one thousand tablets, one for every student and teacher, and free wireless data plans for 24/7 learning opportunities.

Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee says, "As they told us, they were attracted to us because of our demographics. Our previous successes and the possibilities that their platform and their program would be of great benefit to us."

His first inclination he says was this is too good to be true. Even though other schools won't get the tablets, the program will be tracked and best practices, teacher insights and stories and resources will be published online for other teachers to access anywhere in the country.
