Simple Tips For Your Homemade Holiday Movies

By Ian Bush

Simple tips can help make your holiday movies memorable for all the right reasons.

Maybe Black Friday or Cyber Monday have left you with a new HD camera. Perhaps there's a shiny Smartphone in your pocket already capable of taking high-quality video. When you push record at family parties, there is one mistake many make.

"They focus solely on the kids at the events -- and you don't want to forget the adults."

Ryan Ritchey owns R Cubed Networks, a video production firm in Spring House, Montgomery County. He says your little ones are adorable, but you want to make sure they're able to take a look back at grandpa and grandma years later.

"Split the time 50/50 between the newest and oldest generations at your event."

After you get the good YouTube close-ups, Ritchey says to set the camera on a tripod in the corner and let it roll.

"You have a two-hour long document, let's say, of the day's events. It's not something you necessarily are going to pull out and watch every week, but it's something that in years to come, you may be very thankful to have it."
