Secret Cinema Event At Moore College Of Art And Design In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A collector of vintage films will show off some of his old, odd cartoons tomorrow night.
Jay Schwartz has been running Secret Cinema events for 20 years and tomorrow's at Moore College of Art and Design, 8 pm, is his annual foray into animation. Some of these cartoons were theatrical... weird, but theatrical.
Schwarts says others are "in-house messages for employees of Bell Telephone or training cartoons for the military and just rarer TV cartoons such as Gunnar the Sailor or Dodo, the Kid from Outer Space."
Everything Schwartz shows is film, not film on video, even though that would be a lot easier equipment-wise, and he says only occasionally does someone see what he sees about film's superiority.
"Most people aren't so much worried about the process but I still think it's important and they reap the benefits whether they know it for not."
