Sandusky's Son: More Abuse Reporting Should Be Mandated

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — One of the adopted sons of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky says more people should be mandated to report to authorities any suspected cases of child sexual abuse.

Matthew Sandusky on Thursday spoke at an annual conference in Sioux Falls that explores issues of justice, well-being and safety. He told attendees he would like to increase the number of professionals who are required by law to contact authorities if they suspect a child is being sexually abused.

Sandusky started a foundation to raise awareness about child sexual abuse in local communities after disclosing that his adopted father subjected him to a range of sexual abuse.

Jerry Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of sexually abusing 10 boys, but he is appealing. He has not been charged with abusing Matthew Sandusky.
