Favorite kicks: Brooks and Asics
Pre-race ritual: I always make sure to carb up the night before with a nice pasta dinner with some type of protein. The carbs give you the energy and protein helps with your muscle growth. Remember carbs are healthy. Healthy choices make for a better run, so pick your carbs wisely.
Pre-race snack: Oatmeal or banana and peanut butter on one slice of wheat bread
Tips for new runners: Take it slow and don't expect to run a 5k in a week. Do interval running, for example run/walk from telephone pole to pole. Do strength training workouts regularly. Keep in mind that the first few miles are the hardest – you can ask any runner.
Favorite run quote: "The run begins the moment you forget you are running." – Adidas
Why she runs: Being a personal/group trainer, I never enjoyed running, it was always weights; until we started adding runs into the workouts. Then running became one of my biggest passions. The further I went, the better I felt! I love joining races with a group; I believe the camaraderie helps push you to your best potential. Working out has helped me with my PR by building up my endurance and stamina; they come hand and hand to me.
