Rookie Bryce Treggs Hauls In Big Play, Ryan Mathews Converts Touchdown
By Rahul Lal
This week has brought a lot of questions to the forefront for the Philadelphia Eagles. With wide receiver Josh Huff being dismissed from the team after legal issues and controversial comments, rookie Bryce Treggs made his first career start today.
Eagles' fans should be excited about the rookie who has drawn comparisons to former fan-favorite DeSean Jackson as he caught a 58 yard gain to set up a goal line score for Ryan Matthews early in the second quarter. The reception was the longest by an Eagle on the season and could not come at a more important time as the Eagles are entrenched in a big matchup against the New York Giants.
Another major topic for the Eagles has been their backfield. Fantasy owners and fans alike have been scratching their head trying to predict who will get the lion's share of carries, backfield dump-offs and who will get the scoring opportunities when in the redzone.
Matthews and Darren Sproles have split carries thus far with Wendell Smallwood being factored in as well. It should be interesting to see if the Eagles look to ride the hot hand or choose to run by committee.
The Giants hold a 21-10 lead on the Eagles in the second quarter and the rookie, Carson Wentz, will look to prove that he is ready for the heated NFC East matchups by getting the birds back in this game.
