Racist Graffiti Stirs Anger in Williamstown, NJ

Police in Williamstown, NJ are looking into the appearance of some racist graffiti in their town.

KYW's David Madden reports that several swastikas were spray-painted on the white vinyl fences behind a row of homes in the Chestnut Green neighborhood of this Gloucester County town -- along with four-letter comments berating blacks, Jews, and President Obama.

Monroe Township police captain John Cortesi:

"At this point right now it's not pointing toward a racially biased incident to anybody because it wasn't directed to anybody individually."

And many words were spelled incorrectly.

Gloucester County NAACP head Loretta Winters says that neighbors, regardless of race, are appalled. But even if this is a childish prank, she adds:

"Does that make it right? It's OK because they're under the age of 18?"

She considers this a racial incident and wants those responsible punished. The county prosecutor's office is looking into it.
