Prosecutors Wrapped Up In 'Porngate' Scandal Given New Jobs In D.A.'s Office

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Three prosecutors caught in the email scandal known as "Porngate" have been given new jobs in the district attorney's office, but they remain employed there, despite a chorus of officials calling for their ouster. District Attorney Seth Williams is standing by the men, against a raft of critics.

Among the public officials who've questioned the continued employment of prosecutors Frank Fina, Marc Costanzo and Pat Blessington, are the Mayor-elect, a State senator, and 14 of 15 members of City Council, who passed a resolution at this week's meeting urging Williams to fire them.

Notably, these are Williams' allies. In fact, councilwoman Cindy Bass says she sometimes feels bad Williams is taking so much heat.

"But then the other side of me is like, why is he taking a beating for these guys who really seem to be no better than the criminals they were prosecuting," Bass said.

Williams wasn't available, but his chief of staff Kathy Martin defended the men.

"Keeping them here working exhibits our faith in them that they're smart, capable, hard-working, dedicated civil servants," Martin said.

That said, they have been moved to jobs where they won't try new cases.
