Porter: Philly Sports Scene Will Begin Upswing This November

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- I can see it now.

The Eagles will be 7-0, displaying the NFL's top ranked defense, leading the league in sacks and forced turnovers, while Chip Kelly continues to churn out a top-five offense.

The Phillies will be on the heels of firing Ryne Sandberg and Ruben Amaro Jr., amid the process of hiring a new manager, general manager, and President (replacing Pat Gillick as well).

The Flyers will be about three weeks into the beginning of a new era with their new head coach (they fired Craig Berube today), as GM Ron Hextall continues to make promising moves.

The Sixers will be debuting the likes of Joel Embiid to the city right around November 1st, 2015, not to mention whoever they select in this summer's NBA draft.

All arrows will be pointing up for the first time in, well, a long time. Three of our general managers in Kelly, Hextall, and Sam Hinkie---love 'em or hate 'em---are willing to go against the grain regardless of perception or normality in order to win.

Today, that should---at the very least---be respected.

Tomorrow, we will see the reward in the form of wins and hopefully, championships.
